In 2013 the 78th anniversary of the Orenburg State Circus was celebrated. According to historical documents, the first circus troupes performed in Orenburg in the beginning of the 19th century. Then many fairs were held in the city, and the booths grew into shopping areas, in which “grandfathers-barkers” invited spectators to watch performances of circus acrobats, jugglers, magicians and clowns. Circus art was especially revered by the inhabitants of the city: they always hospitably welcomed circus entrepreneurs and visiting artists.
