Since 1971, residents and guests of the city of Krasnoyarsk circus artists are pleased with their performances in the winter building. The construction of the “Octagonal Pearl” was an important event in the life of the city, the building from the moment of construction turned into a real attraction. The history of circuses in Krasnoyarsk begins in 1896 and owes its appearance, like the city, its rapid development, the construction of the Siberian Railway. Initially, performances were held directly on the street or in tents and only later, temporary wooden circuses began to be built. And the construction of such structures was very simple, unreliable and did not very much resemble the classical, familiar form of the circus. The original skeleton was built from practically fence boards, after which it resembled a strongly leaky nest, holes and crevices in the base were closed with boards of broken tea boxes, no additional warming was expected, and therefore circuses worked only 7-8 months a year, and the orchestra could play in them only in the summer.
