The history of the circus goes back thousands of years. In Krasnodar for the first time the circus appeared in 1880 as a booth with visiting artists during local fairs. In 1908 a local wood merchant V.Shukhov built a warm wooden circus building for 1000 seats, with electric lighting at the corner of the streets of Gudima and Mir. The circus was rented in different years by the brothers Nikitin. J. Truzzi and E. Truzzi, M. Efimov, A Lapiado. Y. Kudryavtsev. In 1911-1930 the circus M. Zlobin was functioning here (the original name is “The Circus is Our Homeland”). In the 1920s, the Krasnodar Circus rented teams led by I. Lebedev, A. Lapiado. There were championships of French wrestling, beauty contests and competitions of acrobats-jumpers. In 1930, the building was refurbished for music hall shows. In the following years, circus performances were given in the tent, which was located in the city park, in the hayfield area and in the telecentre area.
