Build in 1910, the Helsinki Hippodrome stood on the location of the current Töölö Sport Hall. Once it was home to a marvelous circus which could seat 1000 people and host 40 horses in its stables. Besides circus performances, audience were also able to visit wrestling matches there. It was also the location of Finland’s first official boxing tournament. In 1950 the Hippodrome building was demolished and replaced by the B-Hall of the Messuhall, the so-called Little Messuhalli or the Töölö Kisahalliks Sporting Hall.
